State of the Union '24
I saw more of the same; NO surprises. President Biden presented the D utopia talking points firmly and competently. As you know, I disagree with BIG gov't and (so called) Bidenomics. With each proposed federal overreach I kept thinking "How are you going to pay for that?".
Reducing the deficit? Maybe compared to undisciplined, congressionally enabled, Covid–related spending … but still a whopping $ 1,700,000,000,000 deficit for 2023. Still criminal.
Inflation is slowing, yes. But at 3.1% it is still 50% higher than The Fed's target … and prices have NOT come down from the time of 9% inflation …
Rs are on record as wanting the border shutdown. Senate (D) legislation has provision to shut down the border when the immigrant flow reaches a crisis level. Many large city mayors say there is a crisis. Why isn't the border secured? It seems there is consensus.
I saw misinformation and expect misinformation from the other side. It will get ugly. I want the next 8 months to pass quickly, please.
The following statements from the address need to be applied/enforced upon all candidates this election cycle.
"You can't love your country only when you win.""Political violence has NO place."
