A Southern Militarized Zone

The ill–defined War on Drugs (¿ started by President Nixon?) has been a large–scale failure. Illegal drug usage is at an all time high (pardon the pun).
Coercion, even state coerceion, does NOT change behavior.

Is it time for colleges and universities to research the widespread desire to consume mood altering drugs?  Why do US citizens crave currently illegal drugs?  And how is it different from alcohol usage?

Since our nation's founding we have been perpetually engaged in war, foreign and domestic. Our gov't has claimed moral ground for fighting foreign threats overseas. As you know, I oppose the current undeclared foreign wars we are currently waging. However,

Cartel Activity

Cartel activity at our southern border is a real threat to a society of laws. Part of their activity aggravates the failed War on Drugs. Other activities introduce unsavory effects, like human trafficking, border town murders and terrorism, and large–scale property damage.

Somehow, we allow foreign born terrorists to operate inside our southern border. Why?  The weapons they brandish are NOT offensive to D gun control advocates. Why?

A Southern Border Militarized Zone

I am astounded that Rs are NOT at war with border terrorists. I am astounded that gun–phobic Ds are NOT up in arms (pardon another pun) against
gun–toting cartel members operating along our southern border.

While war is abhorrent and the worst expression of humanity, an incursion into our sovereign territory should be met with overwhelming force.
Else, how do you define National Defense?

To provide for the common defence, I propose:

•   A proclamation (by Congress) that armed foreigners within our nation are a threat that must be eliminated
  •   Military action will commence against armed foreigners 30 days following the proclamation
•   Enemy combatants will be afforded NO legal rights
  •   Their killed combatants will be disposed of as trash, at the least cost
•   US forces deployed overseas will be repatriated to secure the southern border
  •   Our most recently deployed troops the first to be repatriated – last out, first in
•   A US Zone to be established north of the US/Mexico border
  •   The north end of the zone will be into the US up to 5 miles from the US border
  •   The south end of the zone will be at the US border
•   Negotiate with the Mexican gov't for a Mexican Zone to be established south of the US/Mexico border
  •   The south end of the zone will be up to 5 miles into Mexico from the US border
  •   The north end of the zone will be at the US border
•   With success, a similar strategy can be considered if there is a threat at the northern border

A Cartel War?

In the spirit of perpetual war and the movie Clear and Present Danger is it time to wage war on Mexican Cartels?

This could only happen with full support of the Mexican gov't, a true partnership. And then the preponderance of the military effort would fall on the Mexican gov't. Our support to only include combatants fleeing Mexican soldiers that approach the US/Mexican border.
